Conor Benn knocks down Chris Eubank Jr twice to avenge rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | boxing news

Conor Benn beat Chris Eubank Jr to win their rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Benn added one final flourish to his controlled performance, sending Eubank to the canvas twice in the 12th and final rounds.

He closed out the contest with a unanimous decision victory, winning 119-107, 118-108, 116-110.

Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have forged their own rivalry, following in the footsteps of their legendary fathers Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, who ignited British boxing in the 1990s.

Hostility festered between Conor Benn and Eubank Jr. The first race, originally scheduled to take place in 2022, was canceled after Benn returned an anti-doping violation.

Once Benn’s England suspension was lifted and he began playing in April this year, Eubank hit him with an egg to further provoke him.

Eubank’s relationship with his father was publicly severed, but after a personal reconciliation, Senior made a surprise appearance at the first fight and did a symbolic ring walk with his son.

Eubank went on to win the first fight on points, leaving Benn looking for revenge and Eubank hoping to win the second fight much more convincingly.

Eubank, who had struggled with weight and hydration provisions ahead of his last fight, looked in good shape for this rematch, but his boxing became increasingly flat and tiring as the rounds progressed.

He was in no hurry in the first round, going for jabs, hitting right crosses and moving from side to side.

Benn worried him with left-right combinations in the second round, but Eubank pushed him away.

Benn split Eubank’s body with hooks and darts a sharp left that caught Eubank’s chin.

The little men successfully climbed upstairs, and one by one they flew overhead. Benn, looking more comfortable, started attacking from the center of the ring.

Benn’s work became more and more certain as he began landing with such regularity that it surprised Eubank.

However, Eubank Jr was unable to find the same intensity he had in the first fight. Benn bagged the round and continued his heavy attack.

In the seventh round, he turned heads by smashing a huge one-two to Eubank’s jaw. Eubank fought back, but Benn finished the round taunting his opponent with a smile.

Eubank needed more urgency as Benn landed vicious punches in the eighth round, and Cross fired an arrow into Eubank’s stomach, his jab receiving high marks.

Again Benn rattled him for a 1-2 and Eubank had to hold him in the clinch to block the attack.

In the final 30 seconds, Eubank walked in on the front foot. He came into the line of fire with a cross from the right towards Benn.

Even late in the fight, Benn still looked his form and boxed dynamically. Eubank came with him, slamming into patches and whizzing punches.

Benn hit a 1-2 and Eubank swiped right to put him away.

In the final round, Eubank appeared to be far behind on the cards, putting himself on the front foot and swinging. He had to pull a special punch from somewhere. But it was Ben who discovered it.

A solid Benn caught him and Eubank cut off his back hand. The pace slowed again until Benn suddenly caught Eubank.

That sparked the fight. The hard blow shook Eubank, shaking him and causing him to fall. Finally getting the moment they had been waiting for, Benn chased after him with a vicious hook as the arena exploded around them.

Benn’s right side smashed straight and he hacked away with his back hand, knocking Eubank down for a second time.

Eubank won the fight, but Benn had a clear decision.

‘This is the end’

Now their rivalry may be over. “It’s been a while and I think this is the end of the Benn-Eubank saga. It’s over, it’s over. It’s over. It ends here,” Benn said.

“Without Chris and my dad, none of this would have happened. This is a generational issue. This is history. Thank you Chris. That’s all I have to say.

“Not bad for two kids with silver spoons.”

“I’ve been through hell and back to get to this night,” a reflective Eubank Jr. said.

“I listened as best as I could and that kid fought hard. He fought hard. He had strength. This kid was bigger than me on the scale. I don’t know how he did that.”

“We opened the show and Conor Benn was the best man of the night.”

Undercard Action

Chorley’s jack cattrall Won an all-out battle against Ekow Essuman. The Nottingham welterweight’s onslaught forced the languid southpaw to work at a rapid pace. But Catterall found the mark for his punches early, and the southpaw, set up by a lead hook, blasted Essuman on his back in the fourth round.

But Essuman, with a big heart and tremendous conditioning, fought back. He set off towards Catterall and gave the left-hander a bad cut next to the eye with his right hand. Essuman even succeeded in tying up Catterall through a rope.

However, in the 11th round, Catteral knocked Essuman down when the referee called a break, but blasted his opponent through the ropes to score a brutal 50-second knockout.

Adam Azim It was another stoppage win in his burgeoning undefeated career. He led second-half substitute Kurt Scoby through the first half of the contest, jabbing him diligently and sinking him with strange, hard hooks.

In the final round, Azim cycled through his repertoire, hitting headshots and left hooks that rocked Scoby. The American fell to his knees under the pressure and his reaction to further left hooks was delayed.

The referee decided there was no need to prolong the agony and awarded the fight at 2.01 of the final round.

Londoner Richard Riakforet It was a powerful cruiserweight. He brought that power to heavyweight. His right hand was too big for Tommy Welch to hold.
