
Corentin Moutet was fined almost all of his prize money at the Queen’s club during his post-match interview.
The controversial Frenchman said the ‘F-word’ was said seven times live on BBC TV following his first-round win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Moutet, who initially swore unintentionally while answering the first question, responded by laughing and swearing three more times, before interviewer Jenny Drummond pulled the plug.
The ATP announced on Friday that it had fined Moutet a whopping $40,000 (£30,248) after earning £33,000 for reaching the second round of the HSBC Championship.
This equates to more than 90% of the prize money, or £4,321 per swear.
The ATP said the fine was issued for “use of profane language during a post-match interview”, i.e. “unsportsmanlike conduct”.
Moutet confirmed he would appeal the fine under ATP regulations.
Nakashima takes down De Minaur.
On the court, Brandon Nakashima of the United States shocked Alex De Minaur, the top seed and world number 6.
The 24-year-old, ranked 32nd, achieved one of the biggest wins of his career with a 7-5 6-3 win.
“I’m very happy with my performance. It certainly wasn’t easy,” he said. “I was under a lot of pressure, but I’m proud that I was able to overcome important issues and finish to the end.
“It was never easy, especially against a top player like Alex, so I was happy to get that last point.”
The defeat was doubly disappointing for Australian De Minaur as his fiancée Katie Boulter watched from the stands at the Andy Murray Arena.

The world No. 2 and former Wimbledon champion stopped playing with a hip problem a day after suffering a surprise round-of-16 loss to 35th-ranked Alexandra Eala at the Berlin Open.
“Unfortunately I have to withdraw from Bad Homburg due to discomfort in my right hip,” Rybakina, 27, said in a story shared on the tournament’s official Instagram page.
“You will need to consult with your medical team and undergo further evaluation before making any decisions about next steps. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Sabalenka advanced to the semifinals after beating Bartunkova 2-6 7-6(7-2) 6-4.
French Open Championship Alexander Zverev Germany advanced to the semifinals of the Terra Bortmann Open last Friday, defeating Belgium’s Raphael Collignon 7-6 (12-10), 7-6 (7-2) in two hours and one minute.
