Crystal Cruises has canceled one cruise and rerouted another due to ongoing attacks on its ships in the Red Sea.
The line has canceled its Crystal Symphony cruise from Mumbai to Athens from March 27 to April 13. The cancellation effectively cancels the route's Chairman Cruise, which was scheduled to sail from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Rhodes, Greece, from April 2-8.
The line also decided to reroute several legs of its world cruise aboard the Crystal Serenity further out in the Red Sea. The 126-day voyage, which began in San Diego on February 3, will conclude in Miami on June 8 as scheduled.
Yemen's Houthi rebels began attacking ships in the Red Sea late last year, forcing cruise ships and cargo ships to avoid the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, the shortest maritime route between Asia and Europe. Several cruise lines have announced route changes, including Aida Cruises, Costa, Cunard, Holland America Line, MSC, P&O Cruises, Princess, Seabourn and Silversea.
