As many of you already know, one of our passions is discovering talent in Buenos Aires. While many designers have closed their studios over the past two years (sadly), new designers have also emerged, bringing interesting and fresh ideas.
Early last year we met Carolina Salom. We’d like to share with you all the story of a Colombian interior designer with an Argentinian soul who caught our eye.
After completing her studies at the University of Palermo in Buenos Aires, she began specializing as a textile artist, earning a master’s degree in weaving techniques, particularly felting, in Barcelona.
Her first project began in 2013 when she moved to the United States and began making felt rugs, exploring the world of fiber arts while raising her two adorable sons.
In 2019, she moved back to Buenos Aires and began leading other projects as Creative Director at one of Argentina’s most important textile consulting companies. At that moment, she realized how much she longed to be a part of something bigger that would allow her to connect directly with the more human aspects of her craft.
This is how CSALOM Atelier was born. Initially, the project began in a charming small atelier in the cool neighborhood of Chacarita, where she also shared space with other great and inspiring artists and designers. Today the project has come of age. Now Carolina has opened an atelier in her own home. Here, river-inspired pieces are combined with her vision of design, gastronomy and motherhood.
