
The legendary US trainer D. Wayne Lukas died at the age of 89.
On Monday, he announced that he should retire due to serious health problems and had to leave the hospital to spend the last day with his family at his house in Louisville, Kentucky.
Lucas died on Saturday evening and read his family’s statement at www.churchillDowns.com.
“Wayne dedicated his life only through the unmatched success of other follows on the track.
“Whether he promoted a promising two -year -old child or quietly advised before a big race, Wayne brought his heart, grace, and grit to all parts of the game.
“Currently, we ask us to be with us at the moment of silence to respect the memory of D. Wayne Lukas.”
Lucas, who entered the Hall of Fame in 1999, won the Kentucky Derby four of the 15 Triple Crown Races and won 20 wins in the Breeders Cup.
