The US and Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has become a “test of will”, said Lyse Doucet, the BBC’s chief international correspondent.
Earlier this month, the U.S. military announced that it would intercept or turn back ships traveling to and from Iran’s coasts.
Iran calls the blockade an “act of piracy,” and Iran’s top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said it was “impossible” to reopen the strait while the United States maintains a naval blockade.
Lyse Doucet reports from Tehran on the condition that none of her material be used by the BBC’s Persian service. These restrictions apply to all international media organizations operating in Iran.
