Danny McGuire, director of Castle Ford Tigers, left the Leeds Rhino in 2017 and admitted that he was “injured.”
MCGUIRE was in the rhino of the child and played 426 games in the club and made 267 attempts, playing for 18 seasons in Headingley.
In a career with a trophy, he picked up eight Grand Final Trophy, three league leader shields, two challenge cups, and three World Club Challenge.
At the same time, he gained numerous individual honors, including the 2017 Harry Sunderland Trophy during the game in the Club Finals.
It was a towering performance from the player on the way to Hull Kr, a club for two seasons before retiring and joining the coaching staff.
MCGUIRE did not imagine that he left Liz Rhino in the bench podcast, and his performance at the Grand Finals was able to go according to the request of Brian McDermote.
MCGUIRE said, “When I left Liz, I thought again and devastated, I thought I would be on Liz for the rest of my life.
“I will work there until I am 65 years old. It’s a way of seeing a rugby career and how my life pops out when I don’t do it.
“It wasn’t a bad term, but probably didn’t end my favorite way.
“I am talking about Gary Heterington and Brian McDermott. Brian is not eager to continue, but I think Gary should support the coach.
“I was hurt and I think that’s why I played so well in 2017, because it was my way.
“Obviously we went out and we won the Grand Finals and I knew deeply that we could still go a little further.
“I always think that there is always pressure when you play in Liz, but motivation is always pressure.
“I felt like I’m under pressure since I was 10 years old. When I first signed a contract with Leeds, I remember that I had to go to everyone and play for East Liz and go to all other clubs.
“So I have been proving myself from such a young age, and it was another challenge where someone decided that I was not one.
“But obviously I got a whole KR from behind it and now I will not change anything.
“As you know, Rugby has been really hard for two years in KR and has been very up and down. We had a good moment, but the coaching, what I learned and the people I met behind it won’t change it.”
Leaving KR: I saw myself as part of the long -term process.
When he had a career in Robbins, McGuire joined the back room staff and started as a coach of Tony Smith and became a temporary director.
In 2023, he returned to his role as an auxiliary coach of his coach Willie Peters and signed a contract to maintain him by 2025.
But McGuire left the club at the end of the 2023 season, as Peters began to create his coaching unit.
MCGUIRE said, “It was hard because I was really enjoying, and I thought the club was part of the long -term process,” MCGUIRE added.
“And again, I saw myself in this journey, we improved, changed the environment, had better players, and Tony Smith came in and began to improve the challenge cup semi -final.
“And the club was getting better and more sponsored, and I felt that it had a decent influence on it, I played my role in this.
“I loved it, and I really enjoyed the year with Will. I really enjoyed it. That year, I learned more than I did for 10 years in a career backend.
“It was a way of how the initial part of the coaching, his work ethics, and he was a way of how to do things, passion, devotion, details, so it was a great year, and he is working hard on his assistant and he is asking.
“As you know, some things happened just because of the differences in opinions about what happened and thinking in coaches and sports, and I felt fine, and we worked together all year round.
“It’s just a little in blue. Really. I’m cool now. I was probably more disappointed.
“It was the last moment. Yes, it was just before the playoff match with Leigh. I think it can be a little better.
“But again, I understand and wonder, how is it over? It’s just ‘appearance, we are on a different way’. It was Paul Lakin and Willie.
“It was a hard time, but I think it’s a sport. Isn’t it?”
