Arthur Fery enjoyed his debut with Dream Davis CUP, and Cameron Norrie won the British controlled tie with Poland.
The 23 -year -old FERY was added to the lineup a few hours ago just before the tie due to the ribs injured by the ribs.
However, Fery, who ranked 227th in the world, did not show signs of nerves when he beat OLAF Priczkowski 6-4 6-2 in GDYNIA.
Norrie previously beat Tomasz Berkieta in a straight set, which means the side of Leon Smith.
Fery was thrown in a short notice, but it helped him to be against the world’s NO 484.
But Fery said: “There is nothing easy.
“My words, the ranking doesn’t really mean anything. And today it was a big fight. It was harder than the score. So I’m really satisfied with the first game.”
Norrie delivered the first point by winning a straight set in the opening rubber.
Norrie’s 34th place was inconsistent with the world’s 545 Berkieta.
Nevertheless, there was no such girl in the score line, and Norrie lined up by saving the set point through a dramatic Thai Brake in the first set.
He showed much more control in the second set and performed 7-6 (9) 6-4.
Norrie said in a court interview, “It’s good to come back from our country.”
“This is the first time here. Tomasz is a young player, a talented and a big serve, and the ball is very good on both sides.
“I knew it wasn’t easy, but not much rhythm. He was really good at playing and challenged me.”
Lloyd GlassPool and Julian Cash are ranked first on Saturday and then reverse single rubber.
If the UK can overcome the line, it will enter the first round in February.
