According to security researchers and public blockchain data, the losses could be significant. Blockchain security firm CertiK said hackers may have stolen around $136 million from X, while cryptocurrency analytics firm Arkham put the figure at around $285 million stolen.

Security companies say North Korea is behind one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts of last year, with the regime making at least $2 billion in stolen cryptocurrencies, funds believed to be used by the regime to finance its nuclear weapons program and evade international sanctions restricting its access to the global financial system.
