Gunmen have killed six police officers in a series of attacks in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, security officials said.
Twelve other officers were also injured in the attack. A synagogue, two churches and a police checkpoint were targeted in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala.
State media, citing the local Interior Ministry, reported that a Russian Orthodox priest was killed and two attackers were shot dead. Social media footage shows the building catching fire.
Dagestan has been the scene of Islamist attacks in the past, although the identity of the perpetrator has not been confirmed.
