With Trump’s approval ratings steadily declining, White House spokesman Davis Engle claimed, “The last poll was on November 5, 2024, when nearly 80 million Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump and delivered on his popular, common-sense agenda.” Overwhelmingly? Trump won less than 50% of the popular vote, 1.5% more than Kamala Harris. Does that make his victory “overwhelming”? Of course not, but that doesn’t stop Trump and his allies from constantly confusing the popular vote with the Electoral College vote to claim 2024 is a landslide victory.
