Dom Taylor has apologized for “blatant lies” after he was booted out of the World Darts Championship after failing a drugs test at the tournament.
The 27-year-old England player, who beat Oskar Lukasiak 3-0 in the first round, has been suspended after the Darts Regulatory Authority (DRA) was informed of “inadequate analysis results” during a test conducted on December 14, it was announced on Friday.
Taylor was banned for a month earlier this year after failing a drugs test at the 2024 Players Championship final in November.
Players will be tested randomly during the World Championships at Alexandra Palace.
From that person’s post Facebook On Sunday’s page, Taylor apologized for the failed test. He said personal trauma in his life had contributed to his situation and that he would “get the help I need.”
He wrote: “First and foremost I want to say I’m sorry!
“I am sorry to all my family, friends, sponsors, management team and most of all my fans, both outside and inside darts, my favorite game/sport.
“I also have to apologize for blatantly lying, just as I lied to myself and everyone around me in the interview after my win over Oscar last week.
“I completed and completed the required courses at the end/early end of the year, as well as all other requirements and sanctions.”
Taylor received a two-year ban for banned substances in January, which was shortened to three months on the grounds that the banned substances did not improve performance.
This was shortened to one month after Taylor agreed to a three-month UKAD approved substance abuse treatment program.
“It was the biggest disappointment of my life, but I bounced back and here I am,” Taylor said when asked about the ban after her first-round win.
“This matter will now be subject to disciplinary proceedings under the relevant DRA anti-doping regulations,” the DRA said in a statement on Friday.
“DRA will have no further comment pending the outcome of this confidential process.”
Taylor was scheduled to face Jonny Clayton in the second round on Saturday. Clayton received a bye in the third round.
