Fleetwood finished the week at 22 under par with a mix of eight birdies and one bogey. He was two shots behind overnight leader Keita Nakajima, while Shane Lowry was three strokes back in a tie for third with Alex Fitzpatrick and Thriston Lawrence.

An eagle on the final hole put Viktor Hovland in a tie for 6th with Jayden Schaper and Joost Luiten, while Daniel Hillier briefly sat in 2nd place after making seven birdies in his first 10 holes on Sunday, but two bogeys and a double bogey in his last five holes left him tied for 9th. It fell.

How Fleetwood won the Indian title

Fleetwood initially took the lead for the night with a two-putt birdie after Nakajima’s playing partner scrambled for par, but the Englishman made bogey on the following par four after seeing his approach shot blocked by a greenside bunker.

Lowry temporarily moved within one after two birdies in the first three holes, Nakajima had a close birdie on the third to get to 18 under par, and Fleetwood got back into contention with a 15-footer on the fourth.

Rory McIlroy produced a par-saving contender of the season in the final round of the DP World India Championship.

The world No. 5 rolled in from 15 feet on the seventh hole to take advantage of the next par 5, but was still two behind. Hillier followed that up with six birdies in eight holes and another birdie on the par-4 10th to finish at 20 under par.

Fleetwood hit a shot and holed a 20-footer on the ninth to start the back nine with four straight birdies, then got up and advanced for scramble pars on the next two holes.

Fleetwood celebrates victory with son

Fleetwood’s victory is his eighth on the DP World Tour and his first since the 2024 Dubai Invitational, with the latest success also being his first with his son watching the action.

“We were at home last week and we were driving the buggy, I think we were playing golf together, and he (Frankie) randomly said, ‘You know what you’ve never done? You’ve never won a tournament and I could run to the 18th green,'” Fleetwood explained.

“I’ve had it written down all week. It was really just another opportunity. There will be many more opportunities where I’ll get the chance to do that, but it’s been on my mind all day today.

“Can I actually put myself in a position to make that moment happen? It’s just one of those little things. It meant so much to me and it was so cool.”
