Everything you need to know as the DP World Tour reaches its thrilling conclusion with two playoff events to decide the 2025 Race to Dubai champion…
Two playoffs, one champion
After 35 winners across 40 events in 27 countries, it all comes down to the final two Rolex Series events held in the United Arab Emirates: the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship.
The top 70 players in the DP World Tour rankings will compete at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links from November 6-9.
The top 50 will then compete in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship on the district course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 13-16.
What’s at stake?
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship offers 9,000 increased Race to Dubai ranking points, while the DP World Tour Championship offers 12,000 points.
Players will receive some points based on their ranking in each tournament. The prize money will also increase from 6.9 million pounds ($9 million) in Abu Dhabi to 7.7 million pounds ($10 million) in Dubai.
At the end of the DP World Tour playoffs, the top 10 players in the Race to Dubai standings will share a bonus pool of £4.6m ($6m), with the overall winner receiving £1.5m ($2m).
Additionally, the top 10 DP World Tour members who are not yet exempt will earn PGA TOUR cards for the 2026 season, granting them dual membership and expanded playing opportunities.
McIlroy, the man who can win
Rory McIlroy leads the Race to Dubai heading into the play-offs, his Masters win being one of three victories in 2025 and a commanding lead over the field.
Defending champion McIlroy is bidding to secure a seventh Harry Vardon Trophy but has some work to do given the number of points on offer to his rivals in the two season-ending events.
Marco Penge, McIlroy’s closest rival after three DP World Tour wins in 2025, is just 441 points behind the leaders of Tyrrell Hatton, Robert MacIntyre and even Tommy Fleetwood.
To overtake McIlroy at the Race to Dubai, winning at least one of the two remaining playoff events – ideally the Dubai DP World Tour Championship where he scores the most points – will be essential.
If this can be combined with McIlroy limiting his points tally by finishing outside the top 10 in both tournaments, it could open the door to a dramatic change in the rankings.
