About 90 drones fell into the waters of Sydney’s Darling Harbor during Monday’s Festival of Lights.
Organizers of Vivid Sydney, an annual three-week festival featuring large-scale lighting installations, said the malfunction was caused by “unforeseen technical difficulties”.
Two scheduled aerial displays have now been cancelled.
A Vivid Sydney spokesperson said: “We apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience caused to attendees and the drone operators have canceled the show in accordance with standard safety protocols.”
