I’m sure there are quite a few of you out there like us who are longing to travel again, fly, explore, discover and roam. This trip to southern Spain took place before restrictions came into effect, and as we enter week 9 of lockdown, I wanted to share some of the wanderlust you can enjoy from home. We have partnered with Chloe and the perfume ‘Nomad’ for this project. You can find the full article on Who What Wear here. As many of you may know, we have been working with Chloe and the ‘Nomade’ perfume for several years. This perfume embodies a traveling woman, a girl, seeking adventure and pleasure as opposed to material things. As women who love to explore and try new things, I couldn’t think of a better brand for the two of us. Traveling explorers are always looking for their next adventure.

For us, traveling is about feeling free, living in the moment, switching off and exploring our surroundings – immersing ourselves in the sights and smells of a new place. We grew up living in Portugal and Brazil, so we’ve always had a nomad mentality. Now all travel may be on pause, and while we’re lucky to be staying safe at home right now, we’re finding ourselves feeling particularly nostalgic for our most precious travel memories. We keep looking back at images of our family vacations, and with a glass of sangria and some London sunshine, they can almost bring the holiday spirit to our sofa.
Our father was a free-spirited and passionate traveler, so we definitely inherited his love of adventure from him. He was always taking us to the other side of the world, whether it was rock jumping in Byron Bay, hiking in Greece or riding a moped in Thailand. But one of our favorite places to explore is the southern coast of Spain.

From a young age, we spent our holidays in a remote villa in the small town of Torreguadiaro. This lodge has always brought back childhood memories of sun-drenched summers and winter escapes, skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. When I visit here as an adult, I spend most of my time relaxing on the sandy beach, snorkeling, practicing my Spanish, and enjoying the fresh catch of the day and traditional paella with the locals.

Southern Spain is a beautiful region with rich culture and traditions. The unique landscape of winding streets and classical architecture along the mountains and sea is a wonderful escape from the chaos of London life. For us, it’s about celebrating the simple things that really connect you when you travel there: nature, food, the feeling of the sun on your face. Even when I visited in February of this year, I was able to sit on the beach in the evening and watch the sunset all day.
We’ve been visiting the same places for years and are still discovering new things about the area. This trip felt especially special because I was inspired by Chloé to embrace my free spirit and leave my comfort zone to explore. We stumbled upon Castillo de la Duquesa, a local fishing village. White buildings were scattered right next to the water surrounding the town square, Plaza de los Banos Romanos. There’s a small, ornately decorated church, an 18th-century castle, a couple of bars and a few fish restaurants that cater to locals only. This little town is so close to my home that I don’t know how I had never discovered it before!

We wake up early, so the best thing about this area is watching the sunrise from the beach every morning. The light here is unrivaled. The sky glows blood orange and pink as flocks of birds take flight. It is a place of discovery, but also a place of peace and reflection. We always try to stay active when we travel, so we usually start our day with a run or yoga, do some meditation, and then stop at a local cafe for a morning coffee. We spent the day wandering around the area looking for hidden gems or just completely unplugging with a book in hand. Getting away from the busy tourist areas is a must for us. That’s why we love discovering lesser-known cities like Torreguadiaro. That’s where you’ll find the most characters.

When it comes to what we packed for this trip, we’re usually fans of the ‘go all out’ mentality. If you don’t have a set plan, you have to prepare for every eventuality! This time, knowing that the weather was starting to warm up, I packed loose-fitting, lightweight clothes and sandals for the city’s relaxed atmosphere, and gym clothes and sneakers for more adventurous trips. We also always carry books, sunglasses and a camera.
Of course, we packed our bags too.Chloe fragrance , Just spray this and you’re ready for sunny days and mild nights. Not only do we love the scent of fresh flowers, but we also deeply relate to what that scent symbolizes. It smells of new beginnings, and we consider ourselves part of the powerful, travel-hungry women who inspired it. It will now always remind us of our favorite place and even though we may not be able to visit there again for quite some time, we will always have sunny memories that take us back there.
