Large companies are not sleeping on quantum chips. Amazon Web Services introduced OCELOT. Microsoft, Majorana; And Google, Willow. But all of this may be considered groundbreaking, but quantum startups often focus on more practical development and progress.
Founded in 2020, Dutch Startup Quantware is one of them, claiming that hardware manufactured by hardware already supplies both computers for 20 customers in 20 countries. Core offering, vertical integration and optimization, or VIO focuses on scaling the bottlenecks of the quantum processing device (QPUS).
Quantum Computing Fields are working for quantum cubes equivalent to beats, but integrating more cubes in single chips are more powerful and less error than networking with multiple small systems together. According to the CEO of Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, Vio, a monopoly 3D chip architecture of Quantware, says, “It is a link missing to expand QPUs.”
Quantwave has raised 20 million euros (about $ 12,27 million), including the TU DELFT and the spin -out of its affiliates, and the spin -out of Quantwave, including 5 million euros of 5 million euros, which was previously secured by the European Innovation Council after the 6 million euros seed round.
With the exception of European financing, all these capitals were jointly recognized by the Dutch state -owned company, NL Deep Sea Technology Fund and Regional Economic Development InnovationQuarter, to strengthen the position of Quantwave as a leader in the Dutch bilateral ecosystem.
The new fund will be used to expand the team and technology of recently updated Quantware.
Google’s Willow Processor has brought Quantum error modifications as a spotlight, but Quantware aims to be a roadmap -based strategy. Designed for the possibility of upgrading to a larger VIO-based QPU, the claim for the reputation of CONTRALTO-A is “almost twice as much as commercially available competitive solutions.”
Large companies are also participating in the race to see people with the largest QPU. But from the point of view of a new company that does not survive for a long time without income, the race is to commercially access the quantum hardware to everyone.
In the front, Quantware distributes its own designed QPU and pursues two paths for other companies to use technology through foundry and packaging services. New funds will be placed in these two directions. Further develop the VIO and build a chip manufacturing facility.
In addition to research institutes, users include quantum startups that support well, such as Alice & Bob, which has recently raised $ 114 million. Quantum Machines, which raised $ 170 million last month, and SEEQC, which announced $ 30 million new funds in January, are also working with Dutch new companies about technology and product development.
In either case of these companies, it is too early to present a quantum architecture that can provide a million cue bits. He is participating in the Microsoft Deutsal Race, and Majorana’s announcement estimates that the horizon is “in several years, not decades.”
RIJLAARSDAM told Techcrunch.
“Even Gigawatt AI clusters can’t solve it, but there is a big and valuable problem that can be a quantum computer.” “This is why we build this system. Some examples include calculations on quantum systems, such as creating better materials, finding new catalysts to break down microplastics, or improving sustainability of fertilizers. ”
But in the case of Quantware, which believes in Quantum Open Architecture, this problem is not the one who will build this million cue -bit systems. If you use VIO, you want to push it to get up quickly.
