Lifestyle brand Edition has opened its first hotel in Southeast Asia, Edition in Singapore.
Designed by Ian Schrager, who launched Edition in partnership with Marriott in 2008, in collaboration with interior design firm Cap Atelier, the 204-room Edition Singapore is located at the western end of Singapore's Upper Orchard Road.
Accessibility to nature is central to the architecture and interior design, with green spaces integrated throughout the hotel.
The hotel features a white marble lobby with a bronze and glass façade and a domed ceiling covered in gold leaf. The lobby’s floor-to-ceiling windows are covered in wide flat surfaces of plantation shutters. A tall window on the far wall of the lobby features a long, light-filled conservatory with a green wall. A curved glass roof offers views of the sky and outdoor greenery.
The lobby bar is covered in sharp pink velvet and features a rose-hued pool table made from Calacatta marble. Christian Liaigre leather chairs and lamps accent the space, and the bar itself is styled with Lalique-inspired crystal decanters and sculptures.
The hotel’s restaurant, Fysh at Edition, is helmed by Australian chef Josh Niland. The seafood-focused restaurant is Niland’s first outside of Australia.
Edition’s signature bar, the Punch Room, is “swathed in shades of Yves Klein blue and lined with oak panelling on the walls and ceiling,” Edition said. “The space channels the intimate atmosphere of a classic London gentlemen’s club, serving brandy with a modern, unconventional approach.”
All rooms feature white carpets covering white oak plank floors, decorative orchid pots and thick curtains adorning the bay windows. The rooms also feature deep sofas and embroidered damask blankets on the beds.
The second-floor spa features a sunken vitality pool, ice fountain, relaxation lounge, sauna, steam room and gym.
The rooftop terrace features a swimming pool with daybeds. The Roof serves Southeast Asian favorites and tropical cocktails in a semi-outdoor setting.
According to the edition, room rates start at around $500 per night.
