Emirates will begin daily flights between Miami and Colombia's capital, Bogota, from June 3.
Emirates currently operates daily Dubai-Miami flights. A new segment has been added to the itinerary, providing a one-stop connection option from the Dubai hub to Bogota.
The airline said it has long wanted to serve Bogota, but the city's high altitude makes it impossible to fly direct Dubai-Bogota. Miami was chosen as a stopover due to the city's strong ties to Colombia.
Emirates will fly this route using a Boeing 777-300ER with first, business and economy cabins.
Emirates, which has a codeshare partnership with United, will compete with Avianca, Latam and American on the Miami-Bogotá route, Cirium flight schedule data shows.
Bogota becomes Emirates' fourth South American destination, following Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.
