I started drawing and drawing my own brooch lines because I love wearing brooches and there were very few options on the market that could satisfy my love. It seemed to have the typical “Made in China” materials, the typical look of plastic, and a “badge” made of plastic. But there aren’t many custom, unique or beautiful pieces.
Priyanka from Nirwaana contacted me for some form of collaboration. The first thing I did was check out their website and immediately looked for this Evil Eye Brooch in their Talisman Collection. I personally don’t wear much jewelry so I wrote her back saying I couldn’t do any other jewelry but I could do something with the evil eye brooch in particular.
Her email response was, “Oh my gosh, that’s exactly what I thought!” And here it is!
“Something likekaala tika“for”hard to missConcepts like “or the “evil eye” have never been part of my personal belief system. But I can’t deny that there are many people who would like to embrace these concepts. The evil eye concept in particular has always seemed rather boring to me. A glass bead that doesn’t look like an eye but has a blue tint doesn’t do me any favors, either aesthetically.
This is one of the reasons I was so tickled by Nirwaana’s take on the Evil Eye concept in the Talisman Collection. Of course, it’s not new in either concept or form, but it’s such a breath of fresh air! And since that’s what my name means – snow, of course there was that.
Brooches come in two forms: One has white/clear cubic zirconia on the outer edge and the other has blue. The central pupil is always blue. The metal used is 925 silver. Each product is handcrafted in India.
This shape and form can be used as a brooch (with pin on the back), as a wrist bracelet and as a necklace. Since I like brooches more than necklaces or bracelets, I decided to take a picture wearing the Evil Eye brooch.
I hope you like the photos. To see more jewellery, visit Nirwaana website. They ship internationally.
