Fabio Wardley will give Tyson Fury a shot at the WBO World Heavyweight Championship if he goes on to win against Daniel Dubois | boxing news

Fabio Wadley has offered a heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury before the end of the year if he successfully defends his WBO world championship against Daniel Dubois.

Wardley is putting his heavyweight crown on the line against former IBF champion Dubois, who suffered a stunning knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in 2024.

Wardley and Dubois are due to box in Manchester on May 9, while Tyson Fury, after a year of retirement, is set to return on April 11 to fight Aslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A win could lead Wardley to a fight with Fury, a former heavyweight world champion and still one of the sport’s biggest stars.

“You wish.” Wardley said. sky sports. “I don’t know how certain I can be about boxing and anything to do with Tyson Fury. There are probably additional caveats beyond that.

“It would be ideal. It would be fantastic. It would be the best fight. I would once again test myself against the best, but it would be one fight at a time.”

Sky Sports’ Andy Scott previews Fabio Wardley’s title defense against Daniel Dubois in Manchester on Saturday May 9 and expects fans to have a good time.

However, he will give Fury a chance to challenge for the WBO title if he retains the belt against Dubois. This would give Fury the opportunity to join three-time world heavyweight champions such as Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

“I gave him an open invitation at the beginning of the year before he signed for the fight with Makhmudov, and before I even signed for the fight with Daniel. I said, if you want to go straight, we can go straight. It doesn’t bother me.

“But if he wants to warm up a little bit and see how he feels and get over it, blah blah blah, then that’s okay. Don’t bother.”

“I will continue to prepare and wait even after the big fight with Daniel is over.”
