FDA continues investigation into outbreak

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating the new E. coli outbreak and has closed investigations of other E. coli outbreaks.

The E. coli outbreak has been linked to raw milk cheddar cheese from Raw Farm LLC. To date, seven patients have been confirmed in California, Texas, and Florida. The FDA asked the company to recall the affected products, but Raw Farm refused.

Two of the seven patients were hospitalized, but no deaths were reported. Four of the patients are under 3 years of age. Of the three patients interviewed so far, all three consumed Raw Farm raw milk cheddar cheese before becoming ill.

In other outbreak news, the FDA is reporting that the number of patients in the Salmonella Newport outbreak continues to increase. The number now stands at 57, up from 54 a week ago. The FDA did not report the patient’s age or place of residence.

First posted February 26, the cause of the outbreak is not yet known. The FDA has begun tracking and sampling but has not reported which foods are being tracked or tested.

The FDA has closed its investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella Saintpaul traced to mangoes. The outbreak was first reported on December 3, 2025. As of March 18 this year, there were 56 confirmed patients.

Based on patient interviews and epidemiological studies, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have determined that mangoes are a source of certain pathogens that make people sick.

However, when the cause of the outbreak was discovered, the mangoes were past their expiration date and could not be sold. The FDA did not say which brand of mango was involved.
