A food safety scientist has been selected as a 2026 World Food Prize winner for her work to build international consensus on food standards and promote safe trade flows.

Huub Lelieveld, from the Netherlands, is credited with leading a movement in more than 100 countries to provide scientific evidence for modern regulations, laws and international standards that protect the world’s food supply. Lelieveld will receive a prize of $500,000.
