Coventry’s manager Frank Lampard believes that his last old -fashioned championship playoff semi -final defeat in Sunderland is one of his greatest moments in his career.
Dan Ballard’s header sent Sunderland to MBLE in an extra time strike, and he started the championship playoffs with Sheffield United with a 1-1 and 3-2 gun. Sky Sports.
But when SKY Blues’ Premier League promotion dreams ended at Wearside, it was a heartbreaking thing for Coventry Boss Lampard.
Former End Land and Chelsea midfielder asked how cruel football could be. Sky Sports: “Yes, it’s probably the biggest example I think I was involved.
“First, if you congratulate you on Sunderland, you will advance to the finals, but in the two games, we ruled at home and ruled the big period of this game.
“In the 17th place in the December league, the players were great in the second half of the season. We are competing with the parachute team and where we finish.
“We have come here with absolute courage to play the way we play. They had to admit us because of how we play, how young people control the game. They are not deserved to control the game. The player is not worth playing the game. I was much older.
“I’m probably a little more balanced in my job, but they don’t deserve it. So they’re not eligible for it. So we congratulate Sunderland, we’re not bitter, but we’re a better team in the two soccer games. It’s absolutely clear. I will go.
“I can’t request anymore. I was so disappointed by clubs, fans, owners, and players. Once the dust is settled, I can’t be disappointed by the way they play.
“You work with them every day and get information, and they gather together in the group at the end of the pitch, so soccer.
“Because the players were doing it, they didn’t have to say much to them. They owned it in the stadium. They owned it until extra time.
“They owned it in the second half of the year, the same as the crowd died quietly, and they understood that the team came and controlled his hometown.
“It’s cruel, but I can’t think of anything except the seasons and pride of tonight.
“We wanted to go to Mble Blizz, but sometimes the gods oppose you in a specific way.
“We want the squad to be stronger, players have shown what they can do and competing, fans are eligible to get it in this football club.
“I think they will be proud of their players and support tonight. And yes, I was disappointed that they didn’t travel with Mble Blizzard.”
Le Bris: We focus on the final from Thursday
Sunderland, meanwhile, continues to end the eight -year Premier League asylum, and will face the best flight by facing the blade of MBLE Blee.
Regis Le Bris of BLACK Cats says he will be interested in the MBLE Blizzard this week.
He said Sky Sports: “We will switch for the final on Thursday. Now it’s just a fun and recovery problem and we will turn on the final very quickly.”
The French talked about the dramatic ending. “It’s fantastic because the scenario is absolutely incredible.
“We’ve probably been so nervous at the first part of the game, and I think we were good for extra time. We played soccer and now fantastic. So just enjoy it now.
“We were a little disappointed because we knew we could play better soccer on the bench, but I think we are between two attitudes 1-0 before the semi-finals and equalizers at home.
“Therefore, after the goal, it was clear that we wanted to score and the game has changed.”
He asked what he said in extra time. He answered. “We think that we changed our structure because we played with three midfielders at that moment, and it was impossible before.
Ballad: Dream is made
Ballard, the hero of Sunderland, scored the last two minutes of the last two minutes of the additional time to send the northeast to MBLE Blizzard.
North Ireland International said Sky Sports: “It is really a dream. Today fans were absolutely incredible. It felt like it would not be our day.
“All young people were desperate to give them something to congratulate them. It’s a dramatic final. It’s a dream made.”
He questioned his goal. “I woke up too early. I decided so much.
“I feel that.”
He was 25 years old.
“So it’s a big call and I feel him. But I’m so happy that Gaffer trusts me. And I hope to repay it.”
Meanwhile, Ballard’s teammate Luke O’nien said this game was “cloudy.”
He said Sky Sports: “I was lost. I’m looking around what this man (ballad) did for this city. It’s incredible.
“It’s a credit for Coventry. It’s hard. I think that’s the hell of the tie, so I got credit from them and their fans, which was a difficult game, but it was a really hard game, but they would be good.
“It’s a bit blurry, I really remembered the last minute, taking up the top of the ballard and seeing everyone running in different directions.
“I can’t remember the game that is honest for you. I only remember the last minute.”
Phillips: Sunderland ran away with him but deserved to take a seat in the final.
Sunderland legend Kevin Philips speaking Sky Sports:
“Coventry scored the most in set play and cross this season is ironic and costly set play. I saw cruel and stupid Frank.
“But that’s about taking a chance: Sunderland asked at the beginning of the playoffs to be their hero, and Dan Ballard did so.
“I don’t think Le Bris will change his tactics. It’s a big pitch, it will be red, saves energy.
“Are they eligible to be there? I will say an example. The spirit, hunger and the desires they showed. They needed some luck and they achieved their second goal in Coventry.
“They were murdered tonight, but they are football. Now they take it to MBLE and perform a very good Sheffield United team.”
