Samuel exits French Open after impressive performance in main draw
Dorset tennis sensation Toby Samuel has been in the spotlight after an impressive run of performances since November, including winning four ATP Challenge titles.

Samuel only qualified in his first attempt at Roland Garros, but it was a huge step forward considering the 23-year-old had never faced a top 100 player before.

Samuel, another British player who chose to hone his skills at an American university, jumped from 1,867th to 266th in the world last year, the biggest jump in rankings for a male athlete.
He continued his upward trend this season, arriving in Paris with a career-best score of 159, placing him eighth in England.
Samuel, who grew up in Dorset and now trains at the University of Bath, looked understandably nervous at first against De Minaur, with the Australian soon breaking away.
But Samuel settled into the match and briefly threatened to trouble his opponent after breaking de Minaur’s serve in the second set to take a 2-0 lead.
