A judge has ruled that the way the Food Standards Agency (FSA) charges control fees to the meat industry is unlawful.
The High Court ruling found that at least some costs were unlawfully included in the FSA’s base hourly rate and enforcement fee assessments. The ruling also found that the FSA’s cost data slides, which provide information on how charges are calculated, did not contain sufficient detail to assess whether the charges were lawful.
