Ness will become permanent CSCO effective March 16 and take charge of the company’s global supply chain operations, according to a March 5 press release. As interim CSCO, he oversaw manufacturing, logistics, sourcing and planning, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“During his tenure at General Mills, Jon has been a driving force in shaping our supply chain organization, leading significant strategy and transformation initiatives,” said Chairman and CEO Jeff Harmening in a press release. “He is a people-first leader and is well-positioned to continue the important work of driving end-to-end supply chain performance, resiliency and operational excellence.”
Ness will report directly to Harmening and join General Mills’ senior leadership team. He succeeds former CSCO Paul Gallagher, who left General Mills in February to become president of 3M’s enterprise supply chain group, according to Gallagher’s LinkedIn page.
Ness became CSCO after a multi-year organizational plan to help the grain and snack company improve its structure. Last October, the company closed three manufacturing plants in Missouri to improve the competitiveness of its supply chain.
Ness has been with General Mills for nearly 20 years, holding leadership roles across supply chain strategy, global finance, manufacturing, procurement and innovation.
