South Korea’s Jeong-Hwan Lee played his “best round” to the delight of the home crowd at the Genesis Championship at Woojeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan.

Lee shot a 7-under 64 in the final round to get to 11 under par, three strokes ahead of England’s Laurie Canter and Spain’s Nacho Elvira.

Mr. Lee said, “I made bogey on the second hole, but after that, I made five birdies in a row, which made the game really comfortable and gave me momentum.”

“This was my best round. Especially the gallery that supported me so much. They gave me the boost I needed.

“I just hope I can continue to live up to their expectations. It’s really hard to put into words how I feel because I feel like I’m in a dream and I still can’t believe I won.”

Canter hit a monster putt from 100 feet on the 18th hole for an incredible eagle and second place. His 67 included three birdies.

England’s Andy Sullivan tied for fourth with Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Japan’s Yuto Katsuragawa with a 70.
