Google quietly updated the web page for the responsible AI and Human Centered Technology (RAI-HCT) team, and was in charge of AI safety, fairness and explanation to rub the mention of “diversity” and “equity”.
The previous version of the page used languages such as “a small number of communities”, “diversity”, “prominent group” and “equity” to explain the work of the RAI-HCT team. The language was removed or in some cases replaced by less specific phrases (e.g.

The change found by the Watchdog Group the Midas Project comes after Google deletes similar languages from this startup Founders Fund Grant website. The company said it will eliminate diversity hiring targets in early February and review diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.
Google is one of the many large companies that roll back the Dei Initiative with the goal of being characterized by the Trump administration as “illegal” practices. Amazon and Meta have rejected the DEI measures for the last few months, and Openai has recently removed mentions on diversity and diversity on the web page of recruitment practices. Apple, however, recently opposed the shareholder proposal to end the DEI program.
Many companies, including Google, have a contract with federal agencies.
