
One of the Bahamas’ largest resorts has new leadership.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar on Cable Beach has been named a longtime Hyatt executive. Stephen J. Smith As managing director, the property announced this week.
With more than 40 years of experience at Hyatt, Smith has held leadership positions at some of the brand’s largest city and resort hotels across the United States.
At Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, Smith will oversee the resort’s day-to-day operations and long-term strategy and work with management to continue to expand the hotel’s luxury and family travel reach in the Bahamas.
“I am thrilled to begin this next chapter at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, a resort deeply shaped by the vibrant culture and spirit of the Bahamas,” Smith said in a statement to Caribbean Journal. “I look forward to becoming a part of this community, working with the fantastic Baha Mar team, and building on the warm hospitality that makes the resort so special to our guests.”
Veteran Hyatt Executive
Smith most recently served as general manager: Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Villas In San Antonio, Texas, he led operations with a focus on revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and team culture.
His Hyatt career also included general manager roles at: Hyatt Regency Houston, Grand Hyatt Washington, Hyatt Regency Washington, Hyatt Regency Long Beach and Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
Over the years, Smith has received recognition throughout the hotel industry, including being nominated. General Manager of the Year Washington DC Hotel Association
He has also served on tourism and hospitality committees including: Destination DC and Visit Houston.

The promise comes as follows Grand Hyatt Baha Mar It has established itself as one of the best large resorts in the Caribbean.
The property features more than 1,800 rooms, suites and residences on Nassau’s Cable Beach, as well as a large casino, extensive pool complex and 200,000-square-foot Bahamas Convention, Arts and Entertainment Center.
Food and drink have become a central focus of the resort in recent years, with more than 40 dining concepts across the wider Bahamas destination.
