Juniper Granola LLC, Rochester, New York, is recalling its Chocolate Cherry and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Junebars because they may contain undeclared milk and soy.
People who are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to milk or soy may be at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
One customer reported an allergic reaction to milk, which led Junebar to become aware of the undeclared allergen and begin an investigation.
The investigation found that the problem was caused by an oversight in the company’s sourcing process, which resulted in a box of vegan chocolate chips containing milk and soy being included in the production. Typically, Junebars are made with dairy-free and soy-free chips.
The bars were distributed in New York State in January through direct delivery through grocery retailers or through website orders.
Affected bars can be identified by looking near the bottom of the back of the bar pouch. Chocolate Cherry and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Junebars labeled L1300, L1300A, L1300B or L1301A are included in the recall.
