Grenada has launched a new online arrival form. Here’s how this affects your next trip.

Land in Grenada, get off the plane, enjoy the warm Caribbean air, and then head straight to immigration rather than reaching for a pen to fill out a paper form in the arrivals hall.

This is the idea behind Grenada’s newly launched online embarkation/disembarkation card platform, which officially launched on March 2nd. Travelers can now complete their ED cards online before arriving in Grenada, as part of a wider effort to modernize the island’s border processing system and create a smoother arrival experience.

This is part of a welcome trend of more and more Caribbean countries launching electronic immigration processes.

The new system allows people to complete required entry forms digitally before travel by visiting edcard.gov.gd. Officials recommend completing this the day before travel or before departure from the port of embarkation.

Digital Steps to Arrival

The move eliminates the traditional paper ED cards that travelers previously filled out on planes and at airports. Instead, submitting your information online in advance will help reduce paperwork and speed up processing at the port of entry.

Grenada’s tourism leadership describes the plan as a substantial upgrade at a time when visitor numbers continue to grow and the destination expands into new markets.

“The introduction of the online ED card platform represents a practical and forward-looking improvement to our tourism and border management systems.” Senator and Minister of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture Adrian Thomas said: “As visitor arrivals continue to grow and expand into new markets, efficient processing at ports of entry is becoming increasingly important. This plan strengthens our operational readiness and strengthens Grenada’s position as a competitive destination globally.”

That means as more travelers choose Grenada, whether for its white sand beaches, chocolate tours, sailing regattas or luxury resorts, the island is investing in the infrastructure that shapes their first moments on land.

How the new Grenada ED card works

The process is simple. Before you travel, visit the official government website and fill out the required forms online. Simply enter your travel details and personal information, submit the form digitally, and it will arrive with those steps already taken care of.

By encouraging travelers to complete their ED cards before departure, Grenada aims to reduce congestion in arrival areas, especially during peak periods when multiple flights land within a short window.

These streamlined flows can make a noticeable difference, especially during peak season when winter sun-seekers, sailing enthusiasts and festival goers all flock to the island.

Why arrival efficiency is becoming a bigger focus

Destinations across the Caribbean are increasingly exploring how technology can improve border management and visitor experiences. The arrival process is one of the few touchpoints shared by all travelers, no matter where they stay or what they do on the island.

Stacey Liburd, CEO of Grenada Tourism Board, formed the new platform as part of a broader effort to modernize the destination.

“Today’s travelers value efficiency and convenience,” said Liburd. “The launch of the online ED card platform reflects Grenada’s ongoing efforts to enhance the visitor experience while supporting a modern, digitalized tourism environment. A seamless arrival process sets the tone for a visitor’s entire stay, and initiatives like this help Grenada remain welcoming, efficient and forward-thinking.”

The focus on first impressions is consistent with Grenada’s positioning in recent years. The island has seen continued demand across leisure travel, cultural experiences and luxury sectors. Travelers can enjoy accommodations like Silversands Grenada, Spice Island Beach Resort, and Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel, as well as a variety of experiences, from the annual Spice Mas festival to farm-to-table dining and rum distillery tours.

As demand grows, so does the need for a system that can handle increased passenger numbers without slowing down the speed of travel from the tarmac to the resort.

Supporting border operations behind the scenes

The changes will be immediately visible to travelers in the form of fewer paper documents, but officials say the platform also supports immigration and border authorities.

By collecting data proactively, the system is designed to reduce processing times and improve passenger flow. It can help ease the burden on frontline officers during the peak arrivals of waves and maintain reliable throughput at airports and ports.

This means less time spent filling out forms and potentially less time waiting in line.

This is part of a broader strategy to balance growth and operational readiness. As Grenada continues to attract visitors from existing markets and new source regions, improving its entry systems and supporting infrastructure are key to its long-term tourism plans.

What travelers should do now

If you are planning a trip to Grenada, you will need to complete your ED card online before your trip. The government recommends doing so the day before departure or before leaving the port of embarkation.

Please use the official government website, edcard.gov.gd, to submit your information. Filling out the form in advance will help ensure a smoother arrival once you land.
