X users will no longer need to pay for X Premium to use Grok, the service’s AI chatbot. Instead, X allows users 10 free prompts every 2 hours.
The Verge reported this, citing X number of users who discovered the update. X first began testing a free version of Grok in certain countries, such as New Zealand, TechCrunch reported last month.
Users can also generate 10 images every 2 hours for free. However, according to the X post, you are limited to analyzing 3 images per day. Anything beyond that requires a subscription.
This gives Grok a freemium model similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude. Previously, Grok was only available to X Premium members, with prices starting at $8 per month or $84 per year.
xAI, the AI company behind Grok, raised $6 billion per SEC filing, bringing its total funding to $12 billion.
