Hearts: Wouter Vrancken appointed as new Tynecastle manager after Derek McInnes switches to Rangers | soccer news

Hearts have appointed Wouter Vrancken as their new manager.

The Belgian replaces Derek McGuinness, who left to join Rangers earlier this month.

Vrancken led Sint-Truiden to third place in the Belgian Pro League last season.

He is tasked with building on Hearts’ painful second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership against Celtic last season, with club captain Lawrence Shankland also leaving to join McInnes at Ibrox.

Brancken played 331 games for five Belgian clubs during his coaching career.

He won the Belgian Cup with Mechelen in 2019 and finished runner-up in the domestic top flight with Racing Genk in 2022/23.
