Hibernian demolished Hearts’ Premiership title charge after surviving a second-half win to secure a 3-2 win in the Edinburgh derby.

Jamie McGrath took the Hibees to heaven just three minutes after volleying into the net from Nicky Cadden’s cross.

The Irish then set up Josh Campbell for a second goal before half-time, with Hearts yet to register a shot on target.

Confidence was boosted as Kieron Bowie fired home a third as Hibs recorded back-to-back home wins over their city rivals for the first time in seven years.

Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland nodded in from a corner to give the league leaders hope, Nicky Devlin scored a second goal in the second half and Raphael Sallinger pulled off a superb stoppage-time save to prevent Shankland and Elton Kabangu inflicting a second league defeat of the season on their rivals.

With smoke still billowing from the ground from the pre-match pyro display, Hibs went ahead after three minutes.

Nicky Cadden received a diagonal pass from O’Hora down the left flank and after getting away from Michael Steinwender, he delivered a cross to McGrath, who fired home a superb shot from 10 yards out.

After a timid start, Hearts started to push their way into the game and had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 17th minute when Shankland headed home Stephen Kingsley’s cross just wide.

Oisin McEntee glanced a header wide from Kingsley’s free-kick and Tomas Magnusson’s shot was blocked in behind by Grant Hanley.

Hibs were forced to make a substitution in the 29th minute when Cadden picked up an injury and was replaced by Campbell.

Kieron Bowie scored Hibernian’s third goal in the win over Hearts.

However, the Easter Road side doubled their lead in the 45th minute despite coming under some pressure as the first half continued.

McGrath got off McEntee on the left and played a fine delivery to Campbell, who looped a brilliant near post header past Alexander Schwolow to the far post.

Hearts manager McGuinness made two changes ahead of the start of the second half, replacing Kingsley and McEntee with Harry Milne and Banningiim.

However, just three minutes after the restart, the leaders’ situation worsened. Stuart Findlay’s attempted clearance down the left was blocked by Josh Mulligan and the ball found its way into the path of Bowie, who drove into the box and fired low past Schwolow from 16 yards.

Shankland, who appeared to have drifted away from a slumping Hearts, gave them a glimmer of hope in the 75th minute when he nodded in Alexandros Kygiridis’ cross from the right.

The Jambos scored another goal in the 89th minute when Devlin knocked in the rebound after Sallinger had blocked Kyziridis’ shot into his path.

Hearts’ Cameron Devlin capitalized on a rebound and scored from close range to make it 3-2 in their clash with Hibernian.

Hibs’ goalkeeper made two great saves in stoppage time to secure victory and prevent a stunning counter-attack from his city rivals.
