High Protein Brownie Batter Bites

In high school and college, I became addicted to all processed junk food and snacks. Since then, I’ve replaced my mini snack cakes with real food options that are much healthier and much more delicious! These Brownie Batter Bites are the latest creation to come out of my kitchen.

It’s a good source of protein and healthy fats for steady energy. Plus, it’s naturally sweetened, so there’s no need for highly processed sugar! My kids love these and once a batch is done they disappear pretty quickly.

Healthy Brownie Batter Bites

One of the best things about making brownies is that you lick the bowl, not the brownies themselves. I’m not afraid of raw eggs from free-range chickens, but there are other things lurking in most brownie recipes that I’m not a fan of. Not only is this version packed with protein, but it skips the flour entirely. It’s also egg-free for those who need to avoid eggs.

Nut butter provides a creamy base and adds healthy fats. Of course, there is also antioxidant-rich cocoa powder for that rich chocolate flavor. My kids also love mini chocolate chips for an added touch of chocolate. Adding maple syrup or raw honey adds sweetness without being overpowering. And even better, these natural sweeteners are rich in minerals and micronutrients that support cellular health and energy, so they won’t cause you to crash.

Protein is my top priority. When I started nourishing my body after years of overeating, my metabolism became much happier. Part of that includes making sure you’re hitting your protein goals. I like to get at least 40 grams of protein for breakfast, but I also want my snacks (and even desserts!) to support my goal.

These brownie batter bites taste just like eating a spoonful of sweet brownie batter, but they’re actually healthy. We’ll eat them as dessert or snacks. And if you’re packaging it for lunch, freeze it before putting it in the lunch container to keep its shape.

High Protein Brownie Batter Bites

A rich chocolate snack that tastes deliciously chocolatey but energizes like real food.

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

  • Combine cottage cheese, protein powder, cocoa powder, nut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla in a blender or food processor until smooth and thick.

  • Transfer to a bowl and stir in the almond flour until the mixture is firm enough to spread. Fold in chocolate chips, if using.

  • Scoop and roll out the brownie batter into 12 to 16 pieces. Place the dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. If the dough is very soft, let it cool in the bowl for 10 to 15 minutes first before scooping it out.

If your house is like mine, rolling it down smaller will help you increase your layout. I’ll often make 16 small bites so everyone gets one and the older kids can have seconds.

Storage and expiration date

Brownie batter bites can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Whenever I make a batch, it’s usually gone within the same day! You can also double or triple the batch for later use.
