To be honest, the view from the window seat is the best part of the flight. We try to include lots of photos in our stories. But did you know that there is a YouTube channel with videos of amazing in-flight moments?

There is a takeoff view! The landing scene is here! We’ve even made sure to put some new airport terminals in the spotlight. All in all, we have a lot to keep AvGeeks like you entertained.
In this story, we’ve compiled some of the channel’s recent highlights. This includes full-length footage of an upper deck A380 takeoff in Australia, views from both ends of the world’s longest flight, and the world’s best air travel hotel.

takeoff time
Between the roar of the engines, the prospect of takeoff, and the feeling that the adventure has just begun, takeoff is arguably the best part of flying. Here are some of our favorite recent takeoff videos:
Singapore Airlines A380 upper deck takeoff from Melbourne: There are many things that make this plane special, from the upper deck seats to Singapore’s great business class experience to the very long takeoff roll. Anyone with A380 experience will know that the plane’s window design makes it difficult to achieve glare-free visibility. But honestly, it’s kind of cool how the window frames the landscape in this photo. Let’s start with the taxi portion of the flight. If you want a quick look at Singapore’s A380 business class, scroll back to the beginning of the video.
That Singapore Airlines A380 flight was one of the best flights of my life. If you want to know more about this, read the full story here.
Qatar Airways Flight 777 from New York JFK: As a New York resident over the past few years, I’ve come to appreciate just how amazing the airplane spotting scene is at JFK. This video shows the start of the Qsuite flight from New York to Doha. Highlights: Taxiing into 31L @ 1:26 and watching the plane in front of us take off, followed by a great view of the entire takeoff runway and JFK Terminals 1 and 8, @ 2:32 a view of the Manhattan skyline. One of the unique things about this flight was that it was my first time sitting in the rear seat, which you can see at the end of the video.
As with the last video, if you want to see highlights before takeoff, including American Airlines’ JFK lounge and Qsuite seats, scroll back to the beginning.
The world’s longest flight is taking to the skies. The most recent video (at least as of the time this article was published) is from Singapore Airlines’ direct route between New York JFK and Singapore Changi, the world’s longest flight. It was an 11pm departure, and the airport and Long Island sparkled at night.
Reverse the same route during the day: Two years ago I flew Singapore’s JFK route outbound. We looked at the pre-flight ramp activity buzzing before boarding. Due to the fuel load and the hot and humid Singaporean climate, our takeoff list was nearly a minute long.
JAL 777-300ER takeoff and climb: In this JFK takeoff video, we depart from Runway 4L and see a different view of the JFK terminal layout. The variety of long-distance transport companies on display is impressive. The weather was cloudy and @ 1:33 you could see the condensation forming on the wings, something you sometimes see on humid days. Getting through the main cloud layer at 2 was also pretty good.

love to land
What goes up must come down. And when that happens, the views are usually gorgeous.
Sunset descent into New York aboard the Singapore Airlines A350: This was the same flight as the Singapore Changi takeoff shown earlier. It was just 17 hours later (it is, after all, the longest flight in the world). The entire descent and landing was beautiful as it happened at sunset time. But by 1:20, things were really looking up. Just as the sunset shows off its brightest colors, just line up on your final approach to JFK 4R. Singapore Airlines fanatics may find the music playing during landing (@ 2:00) a nostalgic experience. And even though I only glanced at it briefly, the scene of the plane departing at 2:48 still remains vivid in my mind.
Cathay Pacific A350-1000 nose cam landing in Hong Kong: There’s only one thing you can take your eyes off the window during landing. And that’s the external camera view that we can see on the screen. As part of the excellent overall IFE system on the Cathay A350-1000, there was a nose cam view that I used to observe the short final approach. You can skip to 0:47 in the video below for that view.
AvGeeking on the ground
It may be counterintuitive, but some of our favorite aviation videos recently have been about land.
Is this the world’s best air travel hotel? We have compiled a full video report after staying at the Excel Hotel in Haneda, Tokyo, famous for being the world’s best airplane navigation hotel.
Amazing views from the skybridge at LaGuardia Terminal B: There’s a lot to like about LaGuardia’s new Terminal B. But the best part, from an AvGeek perspective, is the skybridge scene over the taxiway. From this vantage point you will have an unparalleled view of the bustling LGA ramp and runway activity.
And on the topic of improving NYC area airports, we prepared a report on Newark’s new Terminal A. The video ends with a takeoff shot of the new terminal with the sunset in the background.
