Holland America Line and Seabourn merge sales teams: Travel Weekly

Holland America Line (HAL) and Seabourn Cruises will combine their sales teams, with HAL's Rob Coleman taking over as sales chief.

In his new role, Coleman will serve as HAL’s senior vice president of sales for North America and Australia. He has been with the cruise line for 25 years and was promoted to vice president of sales for North America for HAL last year.

Coleman will continue to report to Beth Bodensteiner, HAL’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Natalya Leahy, Seabourn's president, said combining operations would allow each team to leverage resources and analytics from both brands.

Under the new structure, Tara Schreiner, HAL’s national account executive, will take on the role of vice president, national and strategic partnerships for both brands.

Leaving the company is Steve Smotrys, Seabourn's vice president of sales and trade relations. He is scheduled to leave the company in September.

The move comes less than a year after HAL and Seabourn’s sister cruise lines Princess Cruises and Cunard Line walked away from a similar deal. The two brands had shared a sales force for 18 years. Executives said the separation reflects Cunard’s goal to double its North American business in the next few years.
