How much does ChatGPT cost? Everything you need to know about OpenAI’s pricing plans

OpenAI's AI-based chatbot platform ChatGPT continues to expand with new features. We now offer GPT Store, a store for AI-based applications and services. The recently introduced Memories feature allows you to save your preferences to further personalize your chats. And soon, ChatGPT will be adding an upgraded voice mode, allowing for some real-time interaction with the platform.

So how much does ChatGPT cost? This question is harder to answer than you might think. OpenAI offers paid and free plans for ChatGPT for a variety of customers, from individuals to non-profits, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, and corporations.

To help you keep track of the different ChatGPT subscription options available, we've put together a guide to ChatGPT pricing. We will keep you updated as new plans are introduced.

Chat GPT Free

Once upon a time, the free version of ChatGPT was quite limited in what it could do. But that changed when OpenAI released new features and native generative AI models.

ChatGPT free users have access to OpenAI's flagship GPT-4o model, responses augmented with web content, access to the GPT store, and the ability to upload files and photos and ask questions about those uploads. Users can also take advantage of Advanced Data Analytics, a ChatGPT feature that can “memory” chat preferences and “infer” (i.e. data analysis) files such as spreadsheets and PDFs.

there is However, there are drawbacks that come with the free ChatGPT plan, including daily capacity limits for the GPT-4o model based on demand. When a user reaches that limit, they automatically (but temporarily) switch to OpenAI's less powerful GPT-3.5 model. ChatGPT free users also miss out on certain data analysis features. This is explained in more detail below.

ChatGPT Plus

For individual users who want a more capable ChatGPT, there is ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month.

ChatGPT Plus offers 5x the capacity of ChatGPT Free and provides early and priority access to the latest tools, such as OpenAI's macOS client for ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Plus subscribers can also create interactive charts and tables from their datasets using upgraded data analysis capabilities based on GPT-4o. Users can upload files for analysis to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or directly from their device.

ChatGPT Team

Let's say you own a small business or manage an organization and want more than one ChatGPT license and collaboration features. The ChatGPT team might fit the bill. Cost is $30 per user per month or $25 per user per month billed annually for up to 149 users.

ChatGPT Team provides a dedicated workspace and management tools for team management. All users of the ChatGPT Team plan have access to OpenAI's latest models and the aforementioned tools that allow ChatGPT to analyze, edit, and extract information from files. In addition to this, ChatGPT Team allows people within the team to build and share custom apps based on OpenAI models, similar to apps in the GPT store. These apps can be tailored to specific use cases or departments, or tailored to team data.

ChatGPT Enterprise

Large organizations (specifically, any organization requiring more than 149 ChatGPT licenses) can choose ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI's enterprise-focused ChatGPT plan. OpenAI doesn't disclose pricing for ChatGPT Enterprise, but the reported cost is around $60 per user per month, based on a 12-month contract with a minimum of 150 users.

ChatGPT Enterprise adds “enterprise-grade” privacy and data analytics features to vanilla ChatGPT, as well as improved performance and customization options. There is a dedicated workspace and management console with tools to manage how ChatGPT is used by employees within your organization, including single sign-on integration, domain verification, and a dashboard that displays usage and engagement statistics.

Shareable conversation templates provided as part of ChatGPT Enterprise allow users to build internal workflows and bots that leverage ChatGPT, while credits to OpenAI's API platform allow companies to create fully custom ChatGPT-based solutions if they wish. there is.

ChatGPT Enterprise customers also have priority access to models and lines of OpenAI expertise, including a dedicated account team, training, and integrated invoicing. We may also enter into a business associate agreement with OpenAI, which is required by U.S. law for companies that wish to use tools like ChatGPT with personal health information, such as medical records.

ChatGPT Training

OpenAI's latest product, ChatGPT Edu, offers a version of ChatGPT built for students attending colleges and universities, as well as faculty, researchers, and campus operations teams. Pricing has not yet been revealed or reported as used, but if so we will update this section.

ChatGPT Edu is similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, except that it supports SCIM, an open protocol used to simplify cloud identity and access management. (OpenAI plans to bring SCIM to ChatGPT Enterprise in the future.) Like ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu customers get data analysis tools, management controls, single sign-on, improved security, and the ability to build and share custom chatbots.

ChatGPT Edu also comes with the latest OpenAI model and, importantly, has increased message limits.

OpenAI for Nonprofits

OpenAI for Nonprofits is OpenAI’s initial foray into nonprofit technology solutions. It's not a standalone ChatGPT plan so much as a variety of discounts for qualifying organizations.

Nonprofits can access the ChatGPT team at a discounted rate of $20 per user per month. Large non-profit organizations can get a 50% discount on ChatGPT Enterprise, which works out to about $30 per user.

However, the qualification requirements are quite strict. Nonprofits anywhere in the world can apply for discounts, but OpenAI does not currently accept applications from academic, medical, religious, or government organizations.
