David Yourman jewelry has reached fashion icon status, and this cable-twisted classic is so popular that it’s immune to trends. It can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, and it’s perfect for everyday wear. Given Yourman’s immense popularity, it’s no wonder there are counterfeiters. As with any pre-owned designer accessory, the best way to ensure you’re getting a good deal is to educate yourself and (of course) only buy from sellers who have a guarantor of authenticity. We’re committed to educating fashion consumers about authenticity, and as part of our ongoing efforts, we’ve compiled this simple guide to identifying authentic David Yourman jewelry. It’s worth noting that David Yourman has changed the type of stamp used on each piece over the years, so we’ve rounded up the highlights you need to know.
David Yurmann Craftsmanship
Authentic David Yourman pieces can often be identified by their craftsmanship. When inspecting, it is a good idea to look at the seams and edges. Authentic pieces have no sharp or jagged edges, and soldering is neat and clean. In the Confetti bracelet above, the cable cuffs, end caps, and stone settings are precise and well-formed.
David Yurman Stamping
Yurman products feature two types of embossing stamps: metal content and brand. The metal content stamping indicates whether the product is made of silver, gold, or aluminum. The brand stamping features the David Yurman name or initials. On older Yurman products, you may sometimes see a unique stamping called a craftsman/factory stamp.

Yurman Metal Stampings
Yurman sterling silver pieces are always stamped with one of the following: 925, STER, or STERLING. 14K gold pieces are stamped “14K” or “585”, and 18K gold pieces are stamped “18K” or “750”. Mixed metal pieces (like the sterling silver, 14K gold, and green onyx cable bracelet above) have two numerical metal stamps. The bracelet above is stamped 925 and 585. Counterfeit sterling silver Yurman pieces are sometimes made of stainless steel, which is heavier and duller than sterling silver.
David Yourman first released the Aluminum Renaissance Bracelet in 2015. This piece (like the one pictured above) is in a light gray color with “Aluminum” laser engraved on it. If you are unsure of the metal content of your Yourman piece, you can always take it to your local jeweler for testing.
David Yurman trademark stamping
Most Yurman pieces are stamped with a trademark stamp. The trademark stamp features David Yurman's name and, in some cases, a copyright © symbol. In addition to the main stamp type, some pieces made before 2010 are stamped with a craftsman stamp, indicating the maker. David Yurman jewelry pieces from the 1980s and 1990s are typically stamped with “D YURMAN,” “D. YURMAN,” or simply “YURMAN.” These stamps are in all capital letters. More modern pieces from the late 1990s and 2000s are typically stamped with the initials “DY” or “DY.” In 2010, David Yurman began using a more personalized font on most of his jewelry pieces. The most common trademark stamp today is David Yurman's initials, “DY” or “DY.”
Yurman Craftsman/Factory Stamping
David Yourman sometimes features unusual stampings. These stamps may be smiley faces, hearts or stars. Yourman pieces made before the 2010s often feature these unique stamps, indicating the craftsman or factory that produced them.
Yurmane Jewels
Counterfeit Yurman pieces can be made of glass or plastic to mimic real gemstones. It can be difficult to identify a real gemstone unless you are a skilled jeweler or gemologist, but you can tell a low-quality counterfeit by the look and feel of it. Yurman uses a variety of gemstones, but the most common are amethyst, citrine, quartz, topaz, garnet, hematite, onyx, morganite, and diamond. The sterling silver and 18K gold mosaic bracelet pictured above features diamonds, garnets, black onyx, hematite, and smoky quartz.
