Whipped Honey Tips and Variations
- category: You can use any type of honey, but the best is raw honey. It’s lighter in color and at least slightly crystallized.
- whipping In particular, when you whip crystalline honey, the sugar crystals break up and air enters, creating a soft, spreadable consistency. It’s thicker than normal but still liquid.
- sheep: You can whip as much as you want, so if you want to make it in large quantities, go right ahead! You can increase the whipping time to 20 minutes to see if the whipping is good and airy.
- warm: If the honey is heavily crystallized, heat it in the microwave or double boiler for 10 to 20 seconds and then whip. This will help loosen some of the crystals before they break completely as you whip them.
- Try it: You can sprinkle it on pancakes, toast, granola, fried bread, yogurt parfait, rolls, oatmeal, and even tea or latte.
- spices: You can vary the flavor by adding different ingredients, including cinnamon, lavender, vanilla bean, ginger, and chili flakes for hot honey.
How to Properly Store Whipped Cream
- shelf: The shelf life of honey, including whipped cream, is indefinite unless it is contaminated. However, this whipped honey is best used within the first two weeks after whipping. The honey slowly loses its aeration and separates from the aerated honey at the top and the regular liquid at the bottom. If this happens and you want to keep it whipped, whip it again!
- room temperature: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for the best spreadability.
