
IHG Hotels & Resorts is planning a major expansion across Mexico, adding dozens of new hotels to its pipeline and growing its collection of luxury, lifestyle and premium hotels from Cancun and Playa del Carmen to Mexico City and Baja California Sur.
According to the company, Mexico is currently the fifth largest market globally by number of hotels and rooms, with 187 hotels and approximately 30,000 rooms already open across the country. Another 62 hotels with 8,600 rooms are currently under development.
The pipeline includes new content. Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, intercontinental, i call, Holiday Inn Express and avid IHG said it was undertaking a broader effort to expand its presence in Mexico’s resorts and major cities.

One of the biggest upcoming projects is: Kimpton Tres Rios At Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort that will add another luxury option to one of Mexico’s busiest tourist hubs. The property is scheduled to open in September.

The pipeline also includes planned content. Six Senses Xala in Costalegre is currently expected to debut in 2027.

IHG recently announced plans to build six new Voco hotels in Cancun, Guadalajara, Ciudad Juarez, San Luis Potosi, Torreon and Nuevo Laredo. The company is also preparing to open Boco Mexico City Reforma.
The voco brand has become a key part of IHG’s expansion strategy globally, particularly through its transformation in high-demand urban and leisure markets.
According to sources, Voco will be a major part of the company’s all-encompassing push.

IHG also continues to grow its midscale portfolio throughout Mexico.
