The BBC’s Will Grant took a first-hand look at security preparations in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mexico is scheduled to host 13 matches during the tournament, with the city of Monterrey hosting four of them.
The Monterrey Police Department will have 11 helicopters, two Black Hawks and 90 armored vehicles for the World Cup. Armed robot dogs will also patrol the streets, and staff from a central command center will monitor activity across Nuevo Leon.
