Inside the courtroom where Matthew Perry’s assistant was sentenced

Actor Matthew Perry’s live-in personal assistant has been sentenced to 41 months in prison, ending a multi-year legal saga surrounding the actor’s death.

Kenneth Iwamasa, who injected Perry with ketamine, worked with two doctors to provide him with more than $50,000 (£38,000) worth of the drug in the weeks before his death, prosecutors said. Iwamasa had no medical training.

Perry was found dead in a backyard hot tub in Los Angeles in October 2023.

BBC’s Shaimaa Khalil reports from outside the Los Angeles courthouse.
