Internal press briefing as Trump criticizes Supreme Court tariff ruling

President Donald Trump spoke in the press briefing room after the U.S. Supreme Court decided to strike down his global tariffs.

The court ruled that Trump exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, saying the law does not give the president the authority to impose tariffs. In response, Trump announced a new 10% tariff on global imports that would be levied under other laws.

The BBC’s Bernd Debusmann was in the room and described how the president reacted after his massive levy was scrapped.
