
England star Jos Buttler was sold to Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League auction on Sunday.
He previously played for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and although his former team bid aggressively to retain his services, Gujarat Titans eventually snapped up him for £1.4 million ($1.8 million).
As the auction continues from Sunday to Monday, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history after records were broken twice in the first hour of bidding at the Saudi Arabian auction.
Pant was snapped up by Lucknow Super Giants for £2.54 million ($3.19 million) just minutes after IPL winning captain Shreyas Iyer went to Punjab Kings for a then-record £2.51 million ($3.16 million).
Australian left-fielder Mitchell Starc, who became the most expensive player in the IPL last year, joined Delhi Capitals for £1 million ($1.3 million), up from £2.3 million ($2.9 million) a year ago.

When is the tournament?
The IPL is scheduled to start on March 14 and run until the final on May 25. The schedule has not been announced yet All matches will be broadcast live only on Sky Sports.
Who is the defending champion?
The reigning champions are Kolkata Knight Riders, who secured their third overall title in a decade after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the IPL 2024 final.
