Iran’s enemies will receive a strong response – Khamenei

Khamenei said Iran’s enemies, including Israel and the United States, “will certainly receive a huge response for what they are doing against Iran, against the Iranian people and against the resistance front.”

Iran’s so-called ‘resistance axis’ is a coalition of groups that support Tehran, including Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthi rebels in Yemen, and militants in Iraq and Syria. Most have been designated as terrorist groups in some western states.

Israel reportedly caused significant damage to Iran’s air defenses and missile capabilities in the October 26 attack, which Iran has not acknowledged.

Israel sees Iran as the main sponsor of the Hamas attack on October 7 last year that killed about 1,200 people.

More than 250 people were taken hostage in Gaza.

Israel then launched a major operation in the Gaza Strip, during which more than 43,300 people were killed, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Israel also launched an offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon in September, nearly a year after cross-border fighting and rocket fire launched by Hezbollah in support of Palestinians the day after the Hamas attack.

Israel has said it wants to ensure the safe return of tens of thousands of northern Israelis displaced by the conflict.

According to Lebanese authorities, more than 2,800 people have since died in Lebanon and 1.2 million have become refugees.

Israeli authorities say more than 60 people have been killed in Hezbollah rocket, drone and missile attacks in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights.

Relations between the United States and Iran have not been stable since November 4, 1979, when Iranian protesters seized more than 50 American diplomats and embassy staff, triggering a 444-day hostage crisis.
