Bundee Aki and James Ryan have signed contract extensions with the Irish.

Aki has agreed a new one-year deal that will keep him at Connacht until the end of the 2025-26 season, while Ryan has signed for a further three years with Leinster.

Aki, 34, has been a key figure in Ireland’s midfield since making his debut in 2017, making 60 appearances and winning two Grand Slams and a further Six Nations title.

“I am delighted to have extended my contract with the Irish Rugby Football Union and look forward to competing for Ireland and Connacht in the upcoming season,” said Aki.

“I love playing rugby in Ireland and believe this is the right environment for me to develop as a player.

“We are grateful for the support of the IRFU and look forward to seeing what the future holds for the green sector in the coming years.”

Ryan, 28, has won 67 caps for Ireland and is also captain of the national team.

Ireland second-row James Ryan has committed to join Leinster until 2028.

“I am delighted to be able to sign a new contract with Leinster and commit my long-term future to the IRFU,” Ryan said.

“Playing in such an ambitious setup is a huge boost for me personally and I know how committed everyone at Irish Rugby is to working hard and succeeding.

“It’s a privilege to play for my home and country and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the blue and green as talent comes through the academy system.”

The deal comes a day after Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter signed contract extensions with Ireland and Leinster until 2027.
