England No.1 Jack Draper returns from injury at the UTS London Grand Final. Sky Sports.
At the first event after Withdrawal from US Open due to arm injuryDraper is scheduled to compete in the tournament, which takes place Dec. 5-7 at the Copper Box Arena.
This will be the first time Sky Sports will broadcast a UTS tournament to fans across the UK and Ireland. Sky Sports Tennis.
Draper’s first match will be against Belgium’s David Goffin.
“I think I came back too quickly when I played the US Open, so after that I decided to really shut down and take care of myself, and now I’m building my confidence and getting my tennis back to the top level,” Draper told UTS.
The UTS format means all eight players will compete on December 5 and 6, with the semi-finals and final taking place the following days.
Draper, the British number one and winner of the 2023 UTS London Grand Final (seeded third), has been drawn in Group B alongside Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud, Latin American star Francisco Cerundolo and Belgian talent Goffin.
Last year’s UTS London Grand Final champion Alex de Minaur led Group A alongside Andrey Rublev, Tomas Machac and Adrian Mannarino.
In England, the focus will be on Draper, who plays Goffin in the opener on December 5, faces Serundolo in the daytime session on the 6th and then faces Ruud that evening.
The Londoner has never lost in the 2023 championship and holds an unbeaten record in UTS matches.
“It’s an opportunity to compete and also an opportunity to play against the best players in the world again. I think it’s really important to get back up to speed at the end of the race,” Draper told UTS.
“I think it’s important to have the opportunity to play before the upcoming season and what’s really important to me is playing in front of a home crowd, playing at UTS in London and playing at the Copper Box Arena. I’ve never played there before so I’m looking forward to it.”
He added: “I definitely think the experience of playing at UTS a few years ago has given me a lot of confidence. I know it’s not an event on tour, but the opportunity to play against the best players in the world and beat them like I did has given me the platform to be confident on tour as well. So I’m looking forward to gaining that confidence and playing against them.”
Eight players will compete for the 2025 UTS Grand Final Champion title, the unique Zeus Trophy and a total prize pool of £1,394,000.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Sky Sports for the first time on the UTS London Grand Final,” said Karsten Mahlmann, Senior Vice President, International Media, SPORTFIVE.
