JAL adds Japan flights as US demand rises: Travel Weekly

Japan Airlines (JAL) will begin service to Tokyo Narita and Chicago O’Hare starting May 31. We also plan to increase flights from other U.S. cities to Japan, a popular tourist destination.

The Tokyo Narita-Chicago route, which JAL last operated in March 2023, will expand JAL’s existing daily service between Tokyo Haneda and O’Hare.

JAL will compete with All Nippon Airways’ O’Hare-Narita service. The company already competes with ANA and United in the Chicago-Haneda city pair, according to Cirium flight schedule data.

JAL codeshares with American Airlines on the Narita-O’Hare route. Tickets go on sale from February 12th. The airline did not disclose the type of aircraft it would use on the route.

JAL also said it would increase the number of flights this summer on routes between Narita and San Diego, and between Osaka and Los Angeles and Honolulu. JAL wasn’t specific, but Cirium data suggests the route will operate daily starting in April.
